There are only two ways to get to Easter Island. You can either sail there or fly from Santiago in Chile on LAN Chile or fly from Papeete in Tahiti.
The island is located in the Pacific Ocean some 3,200 kilometers (2,000 miles) to the East of Chile. This makes it one of the most isolated places on earth. Easter Island is called Isla de Pascua in Spanish and in Polynesian, Rapa Nui. Today, it is locally called Rapa Nui. Although Rapa Nui is a Chilean territory, tourism on the island is run by the Rapa Nui themselves.
