A conversation between a teacher and a student at school

T:          You were late for school this morning, weren't you?
S:           Yes, I was about ten minutes late.
T:           Why were you late? Did you oversleep?
S:           No, it was because there was something wrong with the trains.
T:          What sort of trouble was it?  Was it a mechanical failure?
S:          I don't really know, but I don't think so. Just before we go to Shinjuku, the train stopped and
              didn't move for a while.
T:          How long was it stopped?
S:           For about fifteen minutes. Quite a few trains were lined up in front of and behind us.
T:           That must have been something.
S:           It was raining then, and so all the windows were closed. And it was very hot inside the car.
T:          Was the train crowded?
S:          The car I was in wasn't very crowded, so I was all right. But it must have been bad for those in
              crowded cars.

A student is expectiong to her teacher why she was late. But she doesn't  know why the train trouble.
